Höganäs Borgestad extends agreement with Bjuv municipality 

(Bjuv, Sweden, 7 of November 2024) Höganäs Borgestad today announces the agreement with Bjuv municipality to extend the longstop date for the sale-leaseback of the two properties to 31 December 2025, which will enable the construction of a new refractory plant. The development program continues as planned. 

The agreement follows the announcement 27 October 2023, where the company outlined the decision to build an advanced refractory plant that allows for more sustainable production, while freeing up space for the municipality of Bjuv to develop its city center. Höganäs Borgestad will continue to offer the company’s wide range of products and competitive offering, throughout and after the construction process. 

Bjuv municipality’s binding approval is subject to the resolvent of a complaint to be handled by the Administrative Court in Malmö. As it is still uncertain when the Administrative Court will process the complaint, it has been agreed with Bjuv municipality to postpone the longstop date from 31 December 2024 to 31 December 2025. 

In parallel, Höganäs Borgestad has completed the first step in a preliminary study for the project and will proceed with the further development program as planned. 

Further information on the project will be announced on a continuous basis upon important milestones and developments.

Höganäs Borgestad to build a new and advanced refractory production plant in Bjuv 

(Bjuv, Sweden, 27th of October 2023) Höganäs Borgestad AB has today announced the decision to build a new and advanced refractory plant that allows for more sustainable production, while freeing up space for the municipality of Bjuv to develop its city center. The new plant is expected to commence production in three to five years. Höganäs Borgestad will continue to offer the company’s wide range of products and competitive offering, throughout and after the construction process.

Höganäs Borgestad has shared a long and rich history with the municipality of Bjuv, ever since the company first started operations in the area in 1873. While Höganäs Borgestad remains a cornerstone company in Bjuv, the current factory area blocks further development of the city centre and infrastructure. With this backdrop, Höganäs Borgestad has entered into an agreement with the municipality to relocate and build a modern production plant in the immediate area. 

 
Höganäs Borgestad will invest significantly in the development of the new plant and keep its customers updated throughout the project timeline. The new facility will be ready to start its production within three to five years.
