Höganäs Borgestad completed a unique project on energy saving

Friday June 7, 2019

Höganäs Borgestad has completed its first energy-saving design project for the cement industry in Russia.

The refractory design was based on the double lining concept which was applied in the safety zone (4rm) and the pre-heating zone (19rm). Victor 60RK, an andalusite based high alumina brick, was used in the hot face of the safety zone and Viking 330, an alkali resistant fireclay brick, was used in the hot face of the pre-heating zone. The properties for those bricks are designed to fit together with the high insulation brick Höganäs insulation M-E. The latest technology equipment for installation was used to achieve the best refractory performance during operation.

Apart from energy saving, the double lining concept reduces the steel shell temperature drastically leading to less mechanical problems, longer life time of the refractories and much more stable production.
